How to protect yourself from addictions?

The main challenge… For most of the people I've ever coached is to keep moving forward. To keep trying and trying and not to give up on themselves.

Hey,

It's Alex.

The main challenge…

… For most of the people I've ever coached is to find a deep motivation and meaning to keep moving forward. To keep trying and trying and not giving up on themselves.

How it’s connected to addictions?

Stay with me in this email, and you will see…

Let me show you the ONLY way I know how you can keep going, stay motivated, and be protected from any addictions no matter what happens in your life.

But first…

Let me share a story about what can happen if you don't take it seriously.

It's a true story about a guy I knew years ago. Out of respect for his privacy, I won't share his real name. Let's call him Edward for the purpose of this email.

Here's the story:

One time…

…During a conversation with one of my friends, Jack, I asked him if he was still living with Edward and how things were going. (They were roommates).

Jack shared with me that Edward's parents had come and "took him" back home.

Me:What do you mean 'took him'? I don't understand. We aren't teenagers anymore...

Jack: “Yes… They literally came and took him and his staff. But you should understand the context…

Jack shared that before Edward's parents showed up, every single day, Edward was lying on the floor of the living room and smoking weed.

Weed after weed... Day after day.

No job. No relationship. No hobbies.

Nothing.

Just staying in the flat, smoking drugs non-stop.

The moment his parents found out, Edward had spent all his savings and was in debt of $150K. He wasn’t so much connected to reality when they saw him.

It was brutal.

But Edward was lucky. His parents paid off his debts and took him to treatment. And today, he is okay and has a new life.

But not everyone has this luck…

And before you say that this kind of story will NEVER happen to you or someone you care about, be careful.

Because life is long, and it's impossible to predict everything. You never know.

This story isn't about drug addiction. It's a story about a good guy who "lost his way."

But the question is, why?

Why do some people wake up, get up, and go on with their day and life?

And others in the middle of self-distraction.

From my ontological coaching perspective, Edward lost his inner meaning.

Meaning of waking up in the morning and starting his day.

Let me explain…

You see… When you have a powerful meaning behind your daily actions. When you have dreams and goals. When you believe in yourself and that in the end, no matter what, everything will be okay.

Things like drugs, gambling, or other destructive addictions don't bother you so much.

There is no need to “distract” yourself from life because you generally Love it.

And when you love your life, it’s much easier to love yourself.

And when you love yourself, you have the courage to dream and desire new things despite your current situation.

These dreams and goals play a big part in the creation of our inner meaning.

This meaning acts like fuel for all the daily actions you do that push you forward.

So, it's logical to say that when there is not enough meaning in your life, distractions and addictions will come instead.

I know that It's not easy to find this deep meaning that will energize you and push you out of bed.

Some people don’t know about what to dream. Or what they want…

And finding answers to these questions requires taking:

  • Risks

  • Actions

  • Trying new things

But it's so worth it when you find it.

So, if you take only one thing from this email, it should be this:

Learn how to love yourself enough so you will take all the risks you need to find out what you want.

Find out what it’s your meaning that makes you get up from bed and push yourself forward.

And if you would like to work on that together with me:

I'm reminding you that I still have a spot for 1:1 Ontological Coaching with me.

Coaching where you will:

  • Work on your inner challenges.

  • Question your beliefs and your reality.
