It's Alex.

If you know what you want and what you need to do - to achieve your goals.

But for some reason, you aren't taking any practical steps…

This email is for you.

I have a best friend from high school. For the purpose of this email, let's call him Adam.

We have known each other for more than 20 years.

We talk almost every week to this day.

We grew up together and know each other so well that we can understand each other without words.

And yet, we are very different, especially in our career path choices.

Adam chose the corporate path while I chased freedom through an online marketing career for the last 12 years.

Adam worked hard in several companies while I traveled the world like a Digital Nomad, building my own projects and trying to figure out how to make money independently.

Adam became successful in his corporate career. He works in one of the biggest corporations in the country, which is, I would say, a dream corporate job.

I achieved significant success in online marketing and decided to shift my career to executive ontological coaching.

Both of us have achieved more or less similar levels of "success."

But there is a big difference in our skill sets and how we approach life in general.

Now...

Adam developed a corporate skill set that helps him navigate the corporate world:

  • How to communicate politically correct in the company.

  • How to sell yourself in an interview.

  • How to work in a team.

These skills help him flourish in the corporate world.

But there's one thing...

He isn't happy, and he wants a change.

He actually wants to move to another country. He would love to work less and to have time to see the world.

But it’s hard because I got used to stability and a comfortable life.

Right now, he lacks the skills that can push him toward the new direction that he wants.

So the reality is:

He knows what he wants — to move to another country.

He knows what he needs to do — to push himself, find a new job, start checking the visa process, and make bold decisions.

But for some reason, he doesn't take the steps he should…

Why it’s like that?

What about me?

Since high school, I've developed a totally different skill set.

I'm a total beginner when it comes to the corporate world.

In the last six years, I've traveled to more than 20 different countries and pivoted in my online marketing career more than ten times.

Things in my life have changed so many times that I had to develop a very important skill — a skill that allows me:

  • To live from one backpack.

  • To work from any coffee shop.

  • Find common ground with different people and cultures.

  • To change my residency 4 times.

In other words, through my "unstable lifestyle," I developed an inner skill to be adaptive to change.

This email isn't about proving that being a solopreneur or business owner is better than working for someone else.

It's not.

It's about the skills we develop during our lives that help us get what we want, no matter the playground we choose to play on.

Working for someone else provides a layer of stability and safety that can make us so comfortable that we become resistant to changes we want and need.

Working for yourself creates an opposite reality.

There is zero stability and safety at the start. And there is a natural need to become resistant to this uncomfortable reality.

So, if you're going to take only one thing from this email, let it be this:

The number one skill that can push you to start doing things that will get you what you want is:

Getting comfortable with being uncomfortable.

Taking baby steps towards what you want:

  • When the situation isn't clear.

  • When there is no stability.

  • When you are afraid.

There is no need to become a solopreneur or switch many jobs. You can develop this skill by yourself or with a coach.

Just don't stay in a reality where you are unhappy.

Because, in most cases, it won’t change by itself...
